Women of F&W Series: Ashley W.
At what moment did you realize you needed healing —mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually, etc.?
I came to realize I needed healing when I started questioning myself and pleading with God to change who I am in an effort to improve a relationship and earn the approval and love of someone I cared for deeply. In those dark, tear-filled moments, I felt deep in my heart that I was struggling mentally and broken spiritually, questioning why loving someone felt like a constant battle that caused me to lose myself. Something within me felt entirely shattered.
Based on challenges or struggles you were or are facing, how has faith helped you find strength in your healing journey?
Letting go of an eight-year relationship and ending an engagement, leaving behind everything I worked hard for, grown comfortable with, loved and envisioned for my future, has deeply strengthened my faith. I had no choice, but to turn back to my source, God, whose power is made perfect in my weakness. I could no longer rely on own strength; I had to step out in faith, knowing finally choosing myself and God again was the right decision for me.
How have wellness practices contributed to your healing journey?
Wellness practices have played a significant role in my healing journey by helping me reconnect with myself on a deeper level. Practices like journaling, praying, and attending church more allow me to process my emotions without guilt or judgment. Physical activities like working out in the gym and joining a run club helped me restore balance and inner peace, while also strengthening my body and providing me with clarity.

Sis, always love yourself first and forever! Never lost sight of who you are, and never dim your light just to make others shine. You beautifully, fearfully, and wonderfully made by God. Don't seek love in the wrong places and from the wrong people. Love yourself enough to walk away from anything or anyone that no longer serves you mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or physically. You are stronger, wiser, and more capable than you realize. Trust in God and in yourself, and allow good things to come to you naturally. Never count yourself out, because God never will. Psalms 28:7
